6 Must-Have Features for Any Bidet Toilet Attachment

Regardless of whether you’re going for a high-class bathroom or a simple upgrade to your current commode, don’t overlook these essential features for your bidet toilet attachment:

  1. The Right Fit

As is true with any toilet seat attachment, it’s essential for your bidet toilet attachment to fit well. Luckily, this is a pretty easy affair. While each model is different, most install within about 20 minutes and are designed to fit standard and contoured one-piece toilets.

To be sure the add-on bidet will fit, check out the product pages or give us a call here at BidetGenius, we're always happy to help.

Once you get your attachment, installing it simple. You just remove the seat, place the attachment between the seat and toilet base, and attach the seat once more. From there, you’ll have to hook up the water supply, check for leaks, and get busy using your bidet.

  1. Warm Water

Cold water gets the job done and the least expensive attachments will do just that. But unless you’re the type of person who is into a blast of cold water in those areas where the sun don't shine (as an aside this does work better than coffee at waking you up), you’ll want a bidet with warm water functionalities. Be aware that this is not true for all bidet attachments.

Some models, like the Bio Bidet BB-270 Duo Bidet, tap into your sink’s warm water line. Others, like the Brondell FreshSpa Dual Temperature Bidet Attachment, offer on-demand warm water and adjustable water temperature, for a fully customizable experience. Before you choose a bidet add-on for your home, make sure it offers warm water and some adjustability.

The drawback of warm water on bidet attachments is that is requires an extra hose going to your sink. If your sink is on the opposite side of the bathroom, you may with to consider a bidet toilet seat instead of an attachment. They are more expensive, but will upgrade your bathroom experience like nothing else.

  1. Quality

Not all bidet attachments are created equal. While there are plenty of outstanding bidet attachments out there, there are also several low-quality models that will break or wear down prematurely.

As such, it’s important to choose one from a brand with some recognition and a reputation for quality. Companies like Brondell and BioBidet make fantastic adjustable options in nice, white finishes that are easy to install.

If you’re looking for a simple yet indestructible option, check out the GoBidet GB2003C Chrome. While it doesn’t offer many bells or whistles, it gets the job done and won’t break down with extended use.

With a typical attachment you can address this by requiring an all brass internal valve and T-Valve. This, really is critical for the long term durability of your little plastic friend. The Brondell Freshspa line is one example that provides this protection.

You could also check out a non-electric bidet seat option like the Bio Bidet A5. It's priced like an attachment but you can just replace your entire seat with built in brass housing. This is probably the way to go if you can skip the warm water.

  1. Simplicity

While a bidet attachment for the toilet is a pretty simple beast by its nature, it’s still possible to wind up with one you have a tough time using or that feels confusing to you. With this in mind, be sure the add-on bidet you choose makes sense and feels intuitive to you. The reason behind this is simple:

When you enjoy and understand something, you’ll want to use it more. That said, be sure your bidet attachment includes customization options, controls that will be easy for everyone in your family to use, and a nozzle that offers the wash features you’re looking for.

Don’t forget to pay attention to the installation instructions, which shouldn’t be overly complex. As a general rule, it should only take about thirty minutes to install a bidet attachment.

  1. The Right Look

While a bidet toilet attachment won’t be a major feature in your bathroom, it will certainly be noticeable. With this in mind, be sure to choose one that you enjoy the look of. As a general rule, you won’t see much of the attachment (Aside from the control panel, which juts out from the side of the toilet), and the nozzle, when it’s in spraying position.

If you don’t like the look of the control panel, try to find a bidet attachment that comes in a color that blends with your toilet, or one that offers a lower-profile silhouette.

  1. A Good Warranty

While your bidet attachment should hold up to years of use, especially if you purchase one from a notable brand like Brondell, it’s always wise to purchase an option that provides a comprehensive warranty.

The Brondell FreshSpa, for example, comes with a one-year warranty. This is pretty standard in the industry, although it may be possible to find something with a more extensive coverage program.

7. A Dirty Butt

Hey, let's call a spade a spade. Our butts are dirty, they output bacteria, spread disease, and kill the environment... well, toilet paper kills the environment. If you're going to invest in an attachment you better be ready to get down to some real "spring cleaning" because your life is about to change forever!

The Case for the Add-on Bidet

If you’re new to the world of bidets, it can be tough to figure out which style and model is best for you. You don’t want to drop thousands on a smart toilet, but you’re not sure you need a dedicated bidet toilet seat.

That’s exactly where the bidet toilet attachment comes in. Designed to offer the most important features of the bidet, including warm water washing and adjustable pressure, without the bells and whistles you don’t completely need (heated seats, for example, or air dryers), the add-on bidet is a perfect catch-all for people who want clean bums without all the hassle.

While the add-on bidet gets less airtime than its larger and more comprehensive counterparts, it’s a great option for anyone who appreciates durability, customization, and comfort.
